About the Artwork: As Above, So Below emerges from my experiences walking the Camino del Norte along the northern coast of Spain, where the meditative cadence of daily movement created a unique space for both presence and reflection. The symmetric gradient of blues and greens echoes the visual rhythm of the journey – sky meeting earth, morning transitioning to evening, beginnings flowing into endings.

Unlike traditional landscape painting, I've distilled the experience into pure color and texture, creating a field that invites contemplative engagement rather than literal representation. The gradual shift from deep blue to luminous green and back again speaks to the cyclical nature of pilgrimage, where each day brings both familiar patterns and subtle variations.

The painting's seemingly simple composition belies its complex surface – thousands of small marks accumulate to create a vibrating field of color, much as the Camino itself consists of countless individual steps that together form a transformative whole. This textural density rewards sustained viewing, revealing new dimensions with extended observation.

Unlike my other works where directional light creates dramatic movement, here I've employed symmetry and balance to evoke the centered stillness I found while walking. The painting offers viewers a visual meditation – a chance to experience the same quieting of mind that emerges when we fully immerse ourselves in rhythm, repetition, and presence.
