MIRROR PAINTINGS: GOLD LEAF & TEXT SERIES

This series of mirror paintings incorporates gold leaf and language, both of which are complex and fragile. The use of mirrors and resin makes the paintings literally heavier, symbolizing the significant weight words carry in our lives. After living abroad for several years, I became more attuned to how Americans speak, which led to the creation of “So Busy,” the first painting in this series, inspired by these observations.

The works in rose gold and shades of pink are painted using unconventional materials such as makeup and nail polish, alongside tinted metal leaf and resin. These paintings explore themes of language, the #MeToo movement, and the growing prominence of feminism. The combination of materials and subject matter reflects the delicate yet powerful nature of these ideas.
