What a week! Thanks so much to Shoshi Parks for the great story in 7x7 as well as Max Blue for interviewing me for the SF Examiner about Open Studios at Hunters Point Shipyard.
I am still not done setting up my studio (shocking, I know) but I will hopefully be ready by tomorrow evening! Please join me in my studio at Hunters Point Shipyard tomorrow night, Friday, October 21st from 6PM-9PM for a preview party to kick off Shipyard Open Studios weekend with music by Milan Hawthorne aka DJ Beats Me. Several other artists with studios nearby will also be open Friday evening. And over 130 artists will be open on Saturday, October 22nd and Sunday, October 23rd from 11AM-6PM both days. Click here to register for free tickets. Enjoy free parking, local food vendors, live music, free art classes for kids, and fabulous artwork for sale by the artists. I will showing new abstract paintings, as well as new mixed media artwork, including text paintings on mirror which are not yet up on my website but are definitely available this weekend.
Come by my studio in building 115 on Sunday afternoon for a special performance right outside my studio by renown Cuban-Chinese American cellist and interdisciplinary artist, Sophia Bacelar. Sophia just finished touring Europe with Oscar winning composer Hans Zimmer who has done music for hundreds of films, including Silence of the Lambs, Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond, Dune, Top Gun, and many more. Sophia has performed around the world from Carnegie Hall to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and The Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris and many other well known museums, galleries, and concert halls. She is also a very talented visual artist, and we are currently collaborating on creating artwork together, including a large abstract painting. Sophia will have prints of her signature black and white artwork available this weekend.
Hope to see you this weekend!
