Special Saturday Night Celebration:
In honor of four decades of artistic innovation at Hunters Point Shipyard, we invite you to a spectacular evening event on Saturday, October 19th from 6PM to 10PM. The internationally acclaimed light and sound artists Ian Winters and Elaine Buckholtz, known for their breathtaking large-scale installations around the world, will transform the Shipyard’s iconic 8,400-ton gantry crane with an immersive light and sound installation, set to live music.
Fun fact: the 730-foot-long crane is longer than AT&T Ballpark, taller than the Statue of Liberty, and weighs as much as the Eiffel Tower. Built to swap gun turrets on battleships, it can lift over a million pounds.
Artists in Building 101 will host illumination viewing parties, and there will also be a live outdoor viewing area featuring music inspired by the rich history of the Shipyard.
While the event is free, space is limited. To ensure your spot, RSVP is recommended: Click here to reserve your free ticket.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you at Open Studios!
